Lacey R. Lopez, PhD, collaborates with researchers across therapeutic fields to plan and develop publications highlighting their work. Key research fields and therapeutic areas include microbiology, immunology, infection biology, gastroenterology, and oncology.
Prior to joining RTI-HS, Dr. Lopez conducted research examining how the gut microbiota influences inflammatory bowel disease complications at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. She also served as Senior Medical Writer and Project Leader for a medical communications agency, where she created engaging deliverables for clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Lopez has collaborated with numerous research groups, resulting in 7 peer-reviewed journal articles, an international book chapter, and multiple presentations at professional conferences. In 2021, she received the Royster Society of Fellows Dissertation Completion Fellowship from UNC at Chapel Hill, which supports high-quality and interdisciplinary research. Dr. Lopez has also written for multiple science blogs, taught lectures, and cofounded 2 organizations that enhance mentoring and collaboration in the biomedical sciences.
