Trina Cook is a Portfolio Project Manager at RTI-HS, where she supports study start-up activities such as project set-up, maintenance of project team rosters in alignment with current quality-assurance standards, and set-up of recurrent internal and external team meetings. She also is responsible for documenting and tracking study progress, timelines, and deliverables over the life of research projects; creating and tracking project budgets; managing contracts and invoices; and tracking and maintaining institutional review board approvals (internal and external to RTI-HS). As a Portfolio Project Manager, she provides project support, including tracking and maintaining of deliverable deadlines; tracking and documenting data registry requirements; and attending client project meetings. She also manages internal and external communications for research projects, including development and dissemination of status updates; obtains bids and liaises with research partners, such as qualitative research facilities, transcription and translation companies; identifies and recruits clinical research sites as research partners, as necessary; manages the quality assurance activities for the project (including quality review documentation for each deliverable); and supports study close-out activities. In addition, she schedules patient interviews between study participants and research scientists, coordinating with clinical trial sites, qualitative facilities, physician offices, patient advocacy groups, caregivers, and patients themselves. Upon completion of patient interviews, she will request and/or process incentive payments for participants. She has over 26 years of experience in supporting business and research functions in the commercial, academic and private sectors.
Prior to rejoining RTI-HS, Ms. Cook was an Executive Project Manager at Emulate, Inc., a Boston, Massachusetts, biotech start-up, where she supported business operations and managed commercial and National Institutes of Health grant submissions and post-award activities. In her previous position with RTI-HS, Ms. Cook was a Proposal Coordinator in the Project and Proposal Office. Her primary responsibility was to oversee the preparation of proposals, which involved coordinating information from Contracts, Finance, the Office of Quality Assurance, and technical staff; ensuring that proposals were reviewed and approved according to the proposal schedule; and ensuring that proposals were compiled and submitted to the client. Ms. Cook also provided impromptu guidance to HS staff regarding the use of Deltek Vision software to support the proposal process, project planning, and search and report capabilities.
